High Tail Designs is a new manufacturer born in Virginia, USA, that creates UL gear by applying colorful prints to DCF (Cuben Fiber) and collaborating with various artists. They have gained immense support from young long-distance hikers in their home country.

The Ultralight Rain Mitt is an ultralight mitten weighing only 30g per pair.

Not only are they light, but the back of the hand is made with DCF composite fabric for increased waterproofing, while the palm side is made with DCF hybrid for abrasion resistance and puncture prevention against rocks and branches. All seams on the inside are reinforced with Dyneema tape for exceptional strength.

As indicated by their recommendation to use with Possum gloves as an inner layer, the HTD staff are true UL enthusiasts. This item follows the traditional UL mitten design, catering to hikers' needs by allowing for merino wool liners or varying glove thicknesses depending on the season.

Regardless, the waterproof performance is undeniable. In the summer, it's also recommended to wear them over bare hands to increase airtightness and create warmth through steaming, similar to a VBL (Vapor Barrier Liner) approach, rather than for breathability.
